Al Maarefa University is dedicated to supporting sustainable development within the local community. While the university primarily provides educational resources, mentorship, and access to research for fostering sustainable business practices, it has also demonstrated a commitment to assisting local startups financially through various indirect mechanisms. These include:
- Research Grants and Competitions: The university offers funding opportunities through grants and startup competitions, often focusing on innovative and sustainable business models. These programs provide seed funding and encourage entrepreneurial ideas that align with sustainability goals.
- Partnership-Driven Financial Support: In collaboration with local businesses, NGOs, and government entities, Al Maarefa University helps channel financial resources to community members pursuing sustainable ventures. These partnerships amplify the university’s ability to provide financial assistance indirectly.
- Scholarships for Entrepreneurs: The university offers scholarships to students and community members with entrepreneurial aspirations. These scholarships often target individuals who propose business ideas with a focus on sustainability and societal impact.
- Access to Financial Guidance: Through its business development programs, Al Maarefa connects community entrepreneurs with financial advisors and potential investors, facilitating access to financial assistance essential for sustainable business start-ups.

Al-Maarefa University signs a memorandum of understanding with the Financial System Alliance
In continuation of strengthening the strategic partnerships that AlMaarefa University is interested in achieving in terms of its social responsibilities, a partnership contract was concluded with the Financial System Alliance (Meeza Program) that includes supporting the employees of the financial system by granting special discounts from tuition fees at the university, as well as courses offered by the university’s Business Center.
This alliance includes the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the Ministry of Finance, the Capital Market Authority, the Zakat and Income Authority, the Saudi Customs Authority, as well as the General Authority for State Real Estate.
The MoU was signed by His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Mojil, Director of the Communication Department, and the University was represented by His Excellency Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Zamil, Dean of Admission, Registration and Student Affairs, at the University’s headquarters in Diriyah.
